Missouri · Bourbon Intel · By Invitation

Hunt down the
right bottle —
or relax into the pour.

This is bourbon intel for people who would rather chase the bottle than chase the trend. We tell you what is dropping, where it is sitting, and whether it is worth the drive.

No spam. Unsubscribe anytime.

A Glencairn nosing glass holding warm amber bourbon on a reclaimed Missouri walnut shelf, an antique brass keyring on handwritten tasting notes beside it, oak rickhouse barrels glowing in golden-hour backlight.

The Posture

We do not make the bourbon. We track the bottles, the drops, and the stories.

Bourbon Fox & Hound is a journal, not a distillery. We are a small operation built around one stubborn idea — that the good intel about American whiskey should not live behind a paywall, in a private group chat, or buried under sponsored content.

We track allocated releases, spot bottles still walking shelves, and write the honest version of the tasting note. Some of it is field reporting and some of it is history, and the long dispatch that gathers it up goes to the Lodge first.

No. 01

The Barrel Ledger

We keep a running record of the bottles that have crossed the Hound's path, and each entry carries what we know about where it turned up.

No. 02

Field Notes

We write honest tasting notes, distillery dossiers, and the occasional history dispatch, and we write them like we are talking rather than selling.

No. 03

Shadow Invites

The Lodge gets a quiet email when something rare turns up on a shelf close enough for its members to reach.

A redacted sample

What a shadow invite reads like.

Bottle, retailer, and price are withheld in this public sample, which is written to show the shape of a shadow invite rather than to report a particular night. Lodge members receive the full text — names, address, and the number on the shelf.

Example Shadow Invite · Tuesday, 4:12 PM CT · Ballwin, MO

A single barrel of a long-aged Indiana bourbon just landed at a shop in Ballwin, where two bottles were still on the shelf at 4 PM.

The shop at [ — ] has [ — ] on the shelf this afternoon: eight years old, finished in [ — ], and bottled at 112 proof. Shelf price is [ — ], which is honest for what is in the bottle. Two bottles were still there when the Hound walked past, so call before you drive.

The Deeper Room

The Circle keeps the board.

Everything on this page is free and stays free. The Inner Circle adds the drawings: every allocated-bottle lottery the Hound tracks, pulled onto one page with the rule for who may enter and the authority's own entry link — plus the pen on the Pour Wall, where members post the pour in front of them. Seven dollars a month or fifty-nine a year, and it cancels in a few clicks.

The BFH Lodge

Some bottles are never announced in daylight.

The Lodge sends shadow invites when something rare lands near you, opens Issue Zero the moment you sign, and adds the occasional long letter from the Hound. Nothing on this list is spam and nothing in it is a sponsored placement.
