The Fine Print

What we keep.

This page explains what The Bourbon Fox & Hound collects, why it is collected, which companies help run the journal, and how to have any of it removed. Last updated August 5, 2026.

Who runs this site

The Bourbon Fox & Hound is published by Jenatech, LLC, a Missouri limited liability company. The Hound and the Fox are the journal's bylines rather than legal entities, so anything with legal weight — this policy, the terms, a data request, a complaint — is handled by Jenatech, LLC. Write to intel@bourbonfoxhound.com and it reaches a person.

The age gate

The door asks for a date of birth and a location. Neither is transmitted anywhere. The date is used in your own browser to compute an age and is then discarded. What remains is a single browser storage entry recording that the check passed, the region you selected, and an expiry thirty days out. Clearing your browser storage removes it and the door asks again.

What we collect, and when

Nothing on this site requires an account to read. Information is collected only at the points where you hand it over.

  • Joining the Lodge. Your name, email address, the nearest city you type, the role you select, and a referral tag if you arrived through a partner link or a printed code. This is the mailing list.
  • Joining the Inner Circle. Your email address, the plan you chose, and identifiers that Stripe returns so the membership can be matched to the payment. Card numbers are entered on Stripe's own checkout page and never reach this site or its servers.
  • Signing in. Your email address, so a one-time sign-in link can be sent to it, plus a signed session cookie once you are through the door.
  • Submitting a bottle, a spot, or a correction. Whatever you type into the form, including your name and email address if you provide them, along with any link you paste.
  • Simply reading. Standard server request data handled by Cloudflare, including your IP address, which is used to serve the page and to block abuse.

Why we collect it

The email address exists so the journal can write to you, and the city exists so a shelf alert goes to people close enough to act on it rather than to everyone. Membership records exist so the Lottery Board opens for people who paid for it. Submission fields exist so a tip can be verified and, when it is wrong, corrected with you. There is no advertising business here, no profile built for resale, and no behavioral targeting of any kind.

Who else touches it

The journal is one operator with a small stack of vendors. Each of these companies processes some of your information on the journal's behalf, under its own privacy terms.

  • Cloudflare — hosting, the Workers platform, the KV store where signup and membership records live, the Turnstile check on the signup form, and Web Analytics. The analytics product is cookieless and does not build a cross-site profile.
  • Loops — the email platform. Lodge and Inner Circle contact records live there, and every dispatch is sent from it.
  • Stripe — payments and subscription billing for the Inner Circle. Stripe collects and holds the card details directly.
  • Web3Forms — relays the bottle, spot, and correction forms to the journal's inbox.

Your information is not sold, not rented, and not shared for anyone else's advertising. It is not traded to another publisher's list. The only circumstances in which it would go further are a lawful legal demand, or a sale or transfer of the journal itself — in which case the buyer would be bound by this policy until it is superseded by a notice to you.

Cookies and browser storage

There are no advertising or tracking cookies on this site. Three things are stored, and all three are functional.

  • The age-gate result described above, in browser local storage, for thirty days.
  • A signed session cookie after you sign in as a member, so gated pages recognize you.
  • Cloudflare's own security and performance cookies, which are set by the network rather than by the journal.

How long it is kept

Raw signup records in the durability log expire automatically after ninety days. Your contact record in Loops and your membership record are kept for as long as you are on the list or a member, and are removed on request. Form submissions live in the journal's email inbox and are kept only as long as they are useful to the entry they informed.

What you can ask for

One email to intel@bourbonfoxhound.com gets any of the following, at no cost and without being asked why.

  • A copy of what is held about you.
  • A correction to anything that is wrong.
  • Deletion of your record, which also ends the mailing.
  • Removal from the mailing list without deleting a paid membership, or the reverse.

Every dispatch also carries a way out at the bottom, and replying to any of them with the word "stop" ends the mail without any further conversation. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy statutes have these rights by law, and residents of the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area have the equivalent rights under the UK GDPR and the GDPR. The journal honors all of them for everyone, everywhere, because maintaining two standards would be more work than maintaining one. Global Privacy Control signals are respected; since the journal does not sell or share personal information, there is nothing for the signal to switch off.

Age

This is a whiskey publication for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed at children, and no information is knowingly collected from anyone under twenty-one. If you believe a minor has left information here, write to intel@bourbonfoxhound.com and it will be deleted.

Security, stated honestly

Secrets are held as platform secrets rather than in the code, payments are delegated to Stripe so card data never lands here, and gated pages fail closed when a check cannot be completed. No small publication can promise perfect security, and this one does not. If something goes wrong that affects you, you will hear it from the journal rather than from someone else.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and a material change is announced in the next dispatch rather than slipped in quietly.
