Wednesday night. Still September. Every stool at the bar at The Brothers was taken, so the Hound took a couch.

The occasion is Oktoberfest, which the house is running from September 25 through October 5, while quantities last.

The menu

  • Bratchos, Knackchos or Kolbassechos, $12.95. The house nachos with chili, beer cheese, onion, jalapenos and crunchy sauerkraut, topped with a G&W bratwurst, knackwurst or kolbasse. The menu calls it a fan favorite that returns every year.
  • Bratwurst, knackwurst or kolbasse, $9. One sausage on a bun with sauerkraut and onion, kettle chips on the side.
  • Giant pretzel with beer cheese, $10.
  • Select Oktoberfest drafts come in an 18 oz mug for the 16 oz price.

One more detail: no queso for the run. Beer cheese replaces it until the beer cheese is gone.

The read

A full bar six days into the event says the regulars already know the drill. If the plan is a stool, go early. If the plan is a couch, the couch works fine.

The Hyperion, and the Bottle That Went Too Fast

Redwood Empire's Hyperion, the 2026 Release - a blend of straight whiskeys that prints its own recipe: 32 percent bourbon, 30 rye, 25 wheat, 13 single malt, bottled unfiltered at 110 proof. Steve held the allocation at The Brothers, ninety-one dollars a bottle. It did not last the week.
